How You Can Support Your Local Bike Shops

This month QuietKat was featured in the Hunting Retailer, March 2020 Edition, in an article titled Should You Offer EBikes In Your Store (see page 58) where the author introduces the argument for why retail bike shops should be adding ebikes into their lineup, if they haven't already. As popular as ebikes may be today, it hasn't always been the case and inital adoption was slow. Brands like ours actually found inital retail traction / penetration from hunting, bait and tackle, general outdoor shops first, and then over time the bike shops came around as they quickly realized how huge a market ebikes would come to represent.

Getting in the time machine for a moment, this was exactly the same thing that happened when snowboarding first came on the scene, and ski shops were afraid to adopt snowboarding at first, but then as snowboarding became more ubiquitous and finanically lucrative, ski shops began to quickly open up their business to these brands and immediately saw the benefit. Looking back its hard to imagine any ski shops not carrying snowboards, and the same is now true of bike shops everywhere.

"there is a better mouse trap that’s creating tons of buzz in the hunting world. Electric bikes (aka e-bikes) are trending now and causing many hunters to rethink their approaches."

One way to support your local bike shop is to purchase bikes, accessories or gift cards, but another way you can also help them now is to bring your bikes in for service. Service is often the lifeblood of local bike shops, so consider having your bike tuned before the warmer season kicks in, this way your bikes are ready to go and you can feel good about helping you community stay afloat.

This is a rapidly developing situation. For the most up-to-date information, check resources like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) regularly. This story will be updated as new information becomes available.
