PA Announces EBike Access On All Bicycle Trails
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has recently announced its policy for eBikes, allowing the use of class 1 electric bikes to be operated on any state park and forest trail that allows traditional bicycles.
As a Brand that advocates for electric bike access, we know that this policy change will allow even more people to experience the thrill of outdoor recreation and the beautiful scenery in Pennsylvania's state parks and forests.
Under the new policy, eBikes must weigh no more than 100 pounds and cannot move at speeds exceeding 20 miles per hour while using the motor. The motor may not exceed 750 watts, and the bike must have fully functional, operable pedals. QuietKat electric bikes are designed to meet these requirements with models like the Ranger and the Apex available in multiple configurations.
PA ELECTRIC BIKE RULES SUMMARY
• Weigh no more than 100 pounds
• Not exceed 20 miles-per-hour using the motor
• Have motors that do not exceed 750 watts
• Have fully functional, operable pedals
The policy change was based on more than 640 public comments received by DCNR after a draft version of the policy was released earlier this year. The agency listened to concerns about the speed of eBikes and made changes to ensure that eBike operators adhere to safe speeds and advised speed limits along trails. This policy change not only expands opportunities for outdoor recreation activity but also manages impacts on other visitors and on natural places.
QuietKat electric bikes are designed to help make outdoor recreation accessible to more people, including those with physical limitations or medical conditions. Our bikes are perfect for individuals who want to cover more ground and explore rough terrain without the noise and emissions of a gas-powered vehicle. Additionally, QuietKat electric bikes are specifically designed to be as quiet as possible, making them an ideal option for outdoor enthusiasts who want to minimize their impact on the environment and remain undetected while hunting.
Another advantage of QuietKat electric bikes is their ability to provide access to areas that were previously difficult to reach. With their powerful motors and sturdy frames, they can navigate steep hills, rocky terrain, and narrow trails with ease. This means you can explore more of Pennsylvania's great outdoors, including areas that were previously inaccessible.
